2/23--2/24

As soon as the Curious George billboards were out, Gavin asked me what they were and I explained it was a movie about a monkey. He asked if we could go see it, and I said "yeah, maybe in a few days."
Well, everyday since then, at least 3 times a day, Gavin says to me "mom, we forgot to see Curious George." So, yesterday, I decided was the day. He was so excited, and I was too - thinking about how much he was going to love this experience. I packed the diaper bag, got both kids ready, fed Ezekiel, and off we went. I bought Gavin a kid-size popcorn and lemonade and we got our seats. As soon as the movie started, Gavin grabbed my hand and was so enthralled, he wasn't even eating his popcorn (one of his favorite snacks). Then about 15 minutes into the movie, he told me he wanted to go home. I asked why and he said he was too tired. I knew there was something else there, so I asked him again why he wanted to go home and I asked if the movie was scary. He said "yes, too scary for me." Even at 2, he didn't want to admit to being scared - wow.
I was kind of disappointed because I had been so excited about taking Gavin and having him love it, and it was a lot of work for me to get us there -- but then I realized that he was so much happier sitting with me in a coffee shop a few minutes later, talking to me and eating a french baguette. I pushed the disappointment aside as I realized that I'm so thankful for Gavin's sensitive heart and spirit.
And, this was another moment I cherished, because I know in not so many years, he will want to be off with friends instead of with his mommy!

Today I am thankful for:

1) Glycerin suppositories - the reason I have been up at 5:30am for 3 days in a row--Ez has been needing some help from these, and boy do they work!

2) Getting more packing done yesterday on my own

3) Looking forward to our "Last Supper" with Nick and Becky tonight

4) The people who have volunteered their Saturday to help us move tomorrow

5) Jason loving our kids so much--he got home last night at 7:30pm after being up since 4am...and he was exhausted, but instead of going about getting his stuff ready for today and going to bed(which I know he would have loved to do) , he sat with Gavin and talked to him before it was Gavin's bedtime.

6) Getting to chat with my mom yesterday--I love how much she loves my kids.

7) Ez laughing in his sleep last night - it was really cute - Jason and I both heard it and laughed

8) Knowing that after tonight, we will no longer have to whisper and tiptoe in our bedroom because Ez will be in his own room! But it does make me a tiny bit sad - I admit it. I like having him close by.

9) Finding our blanket we dropped while shopping in Target yesterday

10) Gavin's assertiveness - yesterday in Target, I couldn't find the paper towels and Gavin told me I needed to "ask the guy." I told him that it was ok, I could find them by myself, and a minute later, we walked past a Target employee and Gavin stopped and said to me "mommy, heres a guy." So then I had to ask where the paper towels were...
