The Follow Up

Since several of you have asked about the aftermath of the story...I'll give you what I know - which is not too terribly much since about an hour after delivery, mom and baby were gone. Its actually very sad because the dad did not want to be in the room for the delivery...and neither parent wanted to hold the baby after delivery. They were NOT excited about this unexpected (apparently) event...Eventually, before mom went upstairs to the postpartum floor, she did hold the baby...but it still made us all sad - those of us a part of the event. Even in the case where you did not know you were having a baby (putting aside the thoughts of "yeah right!")...its such a miracle...and he seemed healthy...you would hope that that alone would cause the maternal instinct to kick in. So thats all I know...sorry if I'm leaving you unfulfilled :-) I did look up the baby in the computer the next day and he was still listed in the newborn nursery - not the PICU. If something was wrong with him, he would have been in the PICU, so thats good.
