weiner

Tonight as Jason and I were putting 2 very tired and cranky boys to bed, I decided to sing a song to make them laugh...or at least not cry (Ezekiel) during teeth brushing...first funny song to come to my head?
"I wish I were an Oscar Myer Weiner..." You know the rest...
They both smiled, but then Gavin got a funny look on his face and said: "mom, thats not really a word we should use." As I was singing the song I had the thought that it might not have been the best song to be teaching my young boys. "yes, Gavin, you're right(I did try and explain that some people call hot dogs weiners, but he told me that some people use the word weiner for other things)...I shouldn't have sang that. Lets sing something else."
Ezekiel: WEINER!!!!!!
Me: Ezekiel (trying to suppress my smile), lets not say that, honey
Ezekiel: WEINER!!!!! WEINER!!!!!!!!! WEINER!!!!!!!!!
Me: Ezekiel, I really don't want you to say that.
Gavin: Then maybe you shouldn't have taught us that song, Mom.
ok...thanks a lot Gavin. Lesson learned. No more weiner songs in our house.

In case you want a more "kid friendly" Oscar Mayer song, here's another:

OSCAR MAYER
My bologna has a first name It's O-s-c-a-r My bologna has a second name It's M-a-y-e-r Oh, I love to eat it everyday and if you ask me what I'll saaaaaaay Cuz Oscar Mayer has a way with B-o-l-o-g-n-a!!!
Ngak, ngak, ngnak.

This was such a funny story, Carrie! I printed it and shared it with friends at work. They, too, got a big, long laugh about it. Thanks for giving many people a reason to laugh. Also blogging is a great way to preserve those moments and conversations that you will probably forget 20 years from now. Judy / Mom / Nana
