Mixed Emotions

With mixed emotions, I bid farewell to both my co-workers and the location of my almost 5-year nursing career. Yesterday was my last 12 hour shift in the ED at UCI and I will indeed miss many parts of working there and the friends I have made. On the other hand, I can't help but look forward to this new "chapter." I'm going to work (for those of you who don't know) registry (kind of like a substitute nurse at different hospitals) and the flexibility is going to be great. No more weekend shifts, holidays I don't want to work or trying to trade shifts because Jason and I were scheduled the same day. It will be slightly uncomfortable being in a new environment where I don't know anyone and don't know where everything is, but I will catch on! I'm not too worried about it. I am confident in my nursing skills, and that is the most important part. As a friend said in an email : "UCI will always be there." Yup, it will. My supervisors assured me that I could be hired back as early as 48 hours from when I resign. I told them I probably wouldn't be back that soon, but I'll probably be back sometime.
