We got Her!

I'm sitting here at the computer, Violet is in the swing and Ezekiel is sitting next to her talking to her - I heard him say "suck it!" and quickly looked over, thinking he was forcing her to suck his thumb or something...but no - he was trying to get her to suck her own thumb. I guess he wants her to experience the love relationship he has with his own thumb...and now he is reading to her from his "Bible" which really happens to be the book Happy Feet. Ok - moving on...
This week has been a whirlwind, as I knew it would be! We celebrated Bethany's birthday Wed night, then Thurs morning was the graduation ceremony in Pasadena. Our faithful friend Becky took the boys all morning until Dan picked them up early afternoon. Then Dan and Judy cared for our children overnight for us so we could stay in Pasadena for the night. They cleaned the house, the backyard, did our laundry and played with the boys. What more could we ask for?? We are so grateful!
Everyone knows how much I love my boys...but it was really nice to have a night away...even though we had Violet, it was almost as though we had no kids. She was SO easy!! We stayed at a nice hotel and had SO MUCH FUN hanging out as a family! (We really missed Angela because she had to work) We went to a dinner/dance (but no one danced...) at the hotel honoring the graduates. My mom was elected by her class to do a speech and she was hilarious!
THEN...on Friday morning we drove back, Violet had a check-up at the Dr.(everything is great...90% for weight and 95% for height), then my mom came over for the afternoon and the profuse lying began. Well, actually it started days before, but Friday I felt a lot of pressure because we planned a surprise party for my mom Friday night and she was with ME for the 5 hours preceding it...I felt a lot of pressure to keep the secret!! I was stressed she was going to know I was lying about certain things...and we SO wanted her to be surprised. The funny thing is I told her I needed her to help me make some cakes for a party I was going to for a friend that night - so essentially she helped make the cakes for her own party :-) And I'm proud to say we GOT HER!! She was SO surprised! She couldn't figure out what was going on and as she turned to me with a look of confusion, I told her the party was for HER! It was great!
I have a lot of pictures, but I'm going to post them later - gotta get back to the kiddos!
Jason, Daniel and Bethany are on their way to Auburn right now for their triathlon (just the boys) tomorrow. I'm so excited to hear how it goes - and really bummed I'm not there.
Hope everyone is enjoying the ridiculously hot day...I'm sitting in an ice bath as I type...
