Our church is involved in a 5K walk called Walk for Grain. Below is information from the website...read on and let me know if you would like to either walk it or give $26 to buy enough grain for a family of 5 for a month! Read below and to find out more go to www.walkforgrain.org
"Walk for Grain was organized to provide emergency food relief for subsistence farmers in Burkina Faso who depend on crops to feed their families.
This year, Burkina Faso - an impoverished country in West Africa - has experienced one of the worst crop failures in a quarter of a century - some regions, losing up to 80% of their crops. Today, many are hungry and suffering from hunger-related diseases, and others will die this year for lack of food.
You can have a direct impact on their survival.Join thousands of others this June in a race to purchase life-saving grain.
Our goal is 5000 bags of grain - which will provide enough food to feed 5000 families for a month. Due to generous underwriting, every dollar donated will go directly to purchase grain for hungry families.
Join the effort! Become a participant: walk in the 5k and recruit sponsors to provide 1 or more bags of grain. $26 per bag will feed a family of 5 for 1 month."
