teaching moment

Being the responsible parent that I am, I decided to grab a teaching moment with my dear Ezekiel today as I was sending him out to the front to ride his scooter(Jason was in the garage working - of course I wouldn't let him out there alone!).
Me: Ezekiel, what would you do if a stranger stopped and asked you to get into his car for some candy?
E: I would tell him I can have it after lunch.
Me: No, Ez! You would not want to take candy from him because he's a stranger!!
E: But I want the candy.
Me:(thoughts...wow, this is not working out as planned): But you can't take candy from strangers! He might want to try and steal you!
E: Ok.
About 25 minutes later...
(lets see if the point took hold at all...)
Me: So, Ezekiel, what would you do again if a stranger stopped and offered you candy??
E: I would ask him if he has some pop rocks.
Me: NO!! You can't take candy from strangers! You have to scream : NOOOOOOO!!! And come find mommy.
E: ok...NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! (screams at the top of his lungs)
Note to self: Never let Ezekiel out of my sight, because apparently if there is a stranger with candy(especially pop rocks), he's game for a car ride...
