Wake up Mom! And SMILE...gavin the photographer at bedside...
And on a quick serious note...we went back to the allergist for a re-check appointment for Gavin. He said everything was great with Gavin, but re-educated us on his peanut allergy. I have been pretty relaxed about it and have not carried the Epi-pen with me for probably a year now. Well, after talking to the Dr. today and reading some online, I believe I have been very ignorant! Basically, when Gavin was skin tested, he had the STRONGEST reaction to peanuts! I guess I had forgotten that. I guess a lot of kids can be exposed to peanuts and not have the "scary reaction" anaphylactic shock-the first few times. I have always believed he didn't have that serious of an allergy because he chewed a peanut up in his mouth about 1 1/2 years ago without my knowledge and I figured he would have reacted if he really was that allergic. Well, it COULD have been his first exposure and people with allergies don't react on the first exposure. Its the exposures after that that are worrisome. SO...I am back to carrying the Epi-pen everywhere, I am ordering a allergy alert bracelet for Gavin to wear, and no more eating food that was made on equipment with peanuts. I have read some scary stories about these reactions. Rare, yes...but not worth the chance for my little boy! I'm so thankful Gavin has never had a reaction when I haven't had the medicine he needs! What a horrifying experience that would be...
I love the weather these last few days warm and summery! I might even go to the pool with a friend Wed!
Have a great week. Until next time...shalom

Carrie...please do carry a epi-pen with you. I hate to be the 'worrisome cousin-in-law', however, I was there when my Mom had a very SEVERE anaphlectic shock. She nearly died. Had I not been there, I am sure she would have. It was HORRIBLE experience. And trust me, you don't want to chance it with him. ~ Love you guys! Amy
