Yesterday Gavin wore "big boy" underwear for the first time. As I was going to change his diaper in the morning, he told me he didn't want to wear a diaper...he wanted to wear underwear. He did great for about 5 hours - no accidents! Then after his nap, I put them back on, and as he was playing, I looked over and saw him making a puddle in the corner. As soon as he realized what he was doing, he started sobbing. Jason took him into the bathroom where he continued to cry and I found myself getting choked up. My heart ached because he was so upset and crushed over his little "accident." I can't imagine how God's heart must ache for us as he sees us experience "accidents" or failures...and this little picture makes me even more grateful for His grace that covers us.
Today I am thankful for:
1) God's grace
2) Jason kissing me good-bye even when its 4:30am
3) The swing Grandma bought me when I was pregnant with Gavin - it makes Ezekiel and I both happy
4) Gavin's laugh
5) Being a stay-at-home mom. As I played with Gavin today I couldn't imagine missing out on hours of drawing on the Aqua-Doodle and play-dough and trucks....
6) Gavin's personality - he is such a great easy going kid
7) Gavin telling me something today that surprised me and then saying to me "how did me know that??" Can you tell I have had a wonderful day with Gavin??
8) Having 2 perfectly healthy boys
9) My time with Kristen last night. She has been my most loyal and faithful friend of...7 years, I think.
10) The Dryers Light ice cream we had last night - it was amazing!

Carrie, you are a great mom; hang in there. Sounds like potty training is rougher on Gavin than the parents, huh? He is a gift from God for sure, and I so appreciate that you love spending time with him as his mom. God is blessing that and will continue to; Thanks for being a wonderful daughter-in-law! Papa Dan
