For the past 6-8 months or maybe longer I have suffered from stomach aches. At first I thought I had a hernia, then had an ultrasound and didn't have much of a hernia(probably a small umbilical hernia)...so that can't be the cause. Then I realized it was food related since my stomach hurt after most meals for an hour or 2. So weird.
Either 4-5 days ago (I can't remember...) I decided to go off gluten to see if that was the cause. I have not had a stomach ache until tonight. I was doing great until Judy (MIL) pulled out the chocolate covered peanut butter bars.....I gave in! TWICE. oh my gosh were those good. BUT...about 30 minutes after eating them my stomach hurt...and hurt...for 2 hours..hurt. SO...I think gluten must be the culprit.
I feel silly sometimes saying I'm not eating gluten because it seems to be sort of a trendy thing to do right now. However, I think I proved to myself tonight there is something to it in my case. Huh. I guess I need to stock up on GF products. EVERYTHING has gluten in it!!
Things I'm happy about right now:
*I got my hair cut and colored - I needed it!
*Jason has 1 more day of work then OFF FOR A MONTH!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!
*My knee didn't hurt once when I ran today
*I got an awesome bracelet from Sarah today for my birthday (late)
Bedtime!

How is he off for a month? That's awesome!! Wish he could've had time off like that when D and fam were here... Mark too, and you, and mom and dad. Geez, you people with jobs... :-) Have lot's of fun together!
I took Sky off gluten after months and months of mystery tummy aches and unproductive doctor's visits. It worked for her too. I agree, GF is very "trendy" right now, but if you study up on the why's, it really makes sense. They way our grains are processed, and have been processed since the 70's, it's difficult on ALL bodies, but only some get actual visible/noticable symptoms.
I read up on sprouting grains and believe it or not, it processes the grain correctly to get rid of the enzyme blocker, and now Sky is fine as long as it's sprouted bread. No more tummy aches for her. You may want to test it out (beware though, there are lots of sprouted breads that add in wheat gluten...defeats the purpose.).
Oh, read the ingredients on GF products. Most are not too healthy. Lots of starches, corn and soy. Things that are also harsh on the system, or can cause hormonal imbalance.
