Going, going, GONE

It was a joke we used to make as we watched television at our friend's houses. Jason would say to me "look, we can read the score" when watching a sports game. About 6 months ago or so (has it been that long??) our tv clarity began to decline considerably. At first we just made a few comments, but over the months different friends and our parents have made comments which caused us to realize that our tv was indeed as bad as we thought it was. We thought about buying a new one...but just never really got around to it. We have never bought a tv...this tv was the 3rd given to us and at least 10 years old, if not older. We considered a new one...then took our trip to San Francisco. While there, since Daniel and Bethany do not have a tv, we spent evenings sitting around talking, watching a movie on Daniel's computer, or just enjoying music. The mornings were spent relaxing with coffee watching the kids play. Jason and I both enjoyed this change of routine. We talked about cancelling our cable and Jason agreed (lets be honest...I could have gotten rid of it a long time ago) while we were up there, but I didn't know if the agreement would stand once we returned home. We were watching a show a few nights after we got home and we laughed at the ridiculous fuzzy picture and green tint...it was time to get rid of the tv! We again discussed our decision and Jason was still on board. When I got home from a Dr. appointment earlier this week, Jason had rearranged our living room, thrown our tv away and put the cable box on the counter, ready to be returned.
I enjoy this change. We have DVDs for the kids, we can watch movies on our computer when we want to, and we can even watch episodes of shows we like online (I love Grey's Anatomy - not ashamed to admit it). We are saving money...and seem to be enjoying each other more. And...we don't need to wear glasses for our evening entertainment...

I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around Jason NOT wanting to watch TV. Congrats, though, & I'm proud!
